February Update

I am so sorry for the lack of posting of the amazing blocks I've gotten back! So far 8 have been returned and they are absolutely perfect!! When I have them near me I'll take pictures of each (some of the fabric that has been swapped in is just adorable).

I am currently pregnant and expecting our first child this April. A little over a week ago I was put in bed rest. Which means I'm not going to get to finish the little girls quilt before she arrives. I promise to keep up with my blocks (come hook or crook)!

Carolyn-this quilt block has been on my "want to try" list for quite some time now. Thanks for the opportunity to do it - I truly loved it. I also love the fabrics you sent...it's great how they all end up going together even though they don't look like they would. I cannot wait to see your blocks come together (side note/thought: anyone complete their projects from last year's bee blocks? Would love to see pictures!). I went to the post office today, but didn't send your block - the line was a mile long and only one clerk working and because it's going to Canada I can't use the auto ship thing to send it..will try again hoping for a smaller line!

Christina-this was my first time doing a disappearing 9-patch as well. It was so quick and fun to figure out how I wanted to rearrange it! I also look forward to seeing your blocks come together, it will be fun to see how everyone chose to lay them out! Your block should be arriving by the weekend!

This is the second 12 1/2" block I have cut and resewn to supposedly get a 12 1/2 " block. That does not compute in my brain. DH says do as you were told and stop feening about the math. So I did!

Your block gave me fits because it was so easy it was difficult. Mathematically it didn't make sense to me at all which probably my major problem. But thank you for this block b/c it tested my skills...especially cutting skills. I hope that you can use it in your quilt.

Sorry guys I am renovating and not sewing or blogging.
To answer your question, please use 6 strips on each side to cover the entire orange piece.
If your block is already done and you only used five, that is fine, I can add to them when they get here.
I thought I had included this on the instructions, but it must have been a good dream!

I finished your block today. I messed it up at first. I did not adjust my 1/4" seam. After redoing it my block only measures 12". I have tried to see what size yours is in your picture but I can't really tell. It looks like it is only 12" as well. Please help. Thank you, Shannon

Would you believe I packaged and mailed them before I realized I never photographed them?!! Im not even sure where my camera is at the moment. Still trying to get back to normal after holiday craziness. Of course going back to work tomorrow should shock my system. Oops I better turn the alarm back on. I just want to say thanks to Linda and everyone in Hive A. This has been a great year! I decided not to continue in 2012 as I need to focus on the UFOs in my trunk. Here is a picture of almost all of the blocks I received from this group ( I forgot to put up the last one received). I still didn't receive one but cant seem to figure out whose.

Hi Bee Friends! November is my month to play hostess, I can hardly believe it has finally arrived! Back in January, November seemed so far away!
I'm sending out pieces of the Denise Schmidt fabric that she recently designed for JoAnn's. Each person in the bee will receive a different print from that line. This fabric reminds me so much of my mother, who was born in the early 1920's, and who endured those hard years during the Great Depression. I decided a very old fashioned block would be right with my fabric, so I have chosen the Flyfoot Block.

I have prepared a little tutorial on how to make this block. Here is the link to it:

Ever had one of those DOH! moments, that was me yesterday when I realized I hadn't receive a Bee block this month -then realizing it was because I haven't send mine out!! So I find sitting hidden under a pile of quilt fabric there are my 11 blocks waiting to be mailed out!!?! Gimmee Cricket!!

I want to apologize to everyone for I have fallen quite behind in my blocks!

Melissa-- I actually have TWO blocks for you, the block I made, and one that was accidentally sent to me instead of you! I had them all packaged up into an envelope, but didn't realize until today while trying to organize all that I need to catch up on (my kitchen table/sewing area is a catastrophe!) that I never took them to the post office! So, a very special apology to you, those will be whipping their way to you.

To Erin, Jadie, and Toni-- I haven't received fabric for your blocks, and it occurred to me that perhaps the email was missed a few months ago updating my address? If it was sent to the Texas address (the ex says I received a few envelopes there) then I am afraid I may possibly never get it (supposedly the stuff was forwarded to me, but that was a month ago and it's not here yet so I am not holding my breath). Please email me, ladies, so I can make it up to you!

Charlene-- I DID get your fabric, so that block will be made and sent out ASAP.

Group A, October Block for Bailey

You may or may not yet have your fabric from me for October's blocks.

I just wanted to post the link for instructions for your block in case you've never done mosaic blocks.

My blocks are inspired by the Mod Mosaic Floor Pillow by Elizabeth Hartman of Oh, Fransson!

At that link, under the second picture, you will find the link to download the instructions.

On the paper included with my fabric, you will find some more specific instructions for my block as well.

You can see in the pictures of the blocks I already have from my local bee group that not all blocks ended up the same size, some haven't been cut with straight edges etc. That is fine, I do not actually want them square when they come back to me and if you can't figure out how not to make it square, you can just send it back like the one on the bottom left in the 2nd picture (see how it's not really finished, the person who did that block wasn't really fond of this style and I told them they didn't have to finish it - you can do the same if you really just can't go on!)

I know that some of you have mention that you wish the colors I sent had more contrast and now looking at things I do to, a little. I do ave plans for these monochromatic blocks. I love rainbows! So unless I have misplaced one or more, I have received 7 of the 11 blocks. Unfortunately, my bookkeeping is miserable, so I'm not sure I know exactly which block was sent by whom. I think the lineup is as follows:

bottom row: (I can't remember! I think either Jorie or Jadie, but maybe Tamera? Help!)

Hey everyone! I have a problem. I wrote down and took pictures of who sent me what blocks from August into a file. I have recieved 9. When I went back to school August 17 things got a little confused and I have ~~lost~~ ~~deleted~~ misplaced my list /pics file. I really thought I had put them in my swap scrap book. Please let me know which block you sent. A couple I am sure of because of blogs/posts. Just put row # (top to bottom)( block # right to left). Thanks! BTW does this forgetful thing get worse in your late forties? Or is it just me.

Do you remember these? Yup, they are my fabric bundles waiting to be mailed out to you. Well guess what?! There were finally turned into this:

I recieved another block yesterday, this one is fom Colleen. I believe there is just one left - Ms Mollie from Illinois, can you let me know what date you popped my block in the mail? If it was during the strike - it may be lost in the post. It could still turn up, I just would have a better idea if I need to make an extra for it or to keep waiting.

I'm back from the lovely humidless Canada to the hot and ridiculously humid NC. If you have any questions or have been waiting to send your blocks I am home. The internet was non existent so I spent two weeks without. It wasn't half bad. I wanted to stay. Here is a pic of where I was.

Group B August fabrics sent

I know I've jumped the gun a bit, but I was so excited that my month had nearly rolled around that I sent out my fabric on Thursday. I included instructions and a photo of my sample block, but recognizing that my photo on the instruction sheet is black and white, I've inserted the photo of my sample block here, too. All the blocks should be primarily the scrappy black and white fabrics, include the quilt saying, include a splash of red, and be 12.5" unfinished, but beyond that, you can do anything you want - traditional, modern, wonky, precise, pieced, appliqué, whatever. I'm very excited to see what you come up with! Please send back the scraps for me to use in finishing the quilt.

Group A August fabric

I sent out my fabric today! I will be out of town for 2.5 weeks and I may or may not have internet in the wilds of Canada so sorry if someone needs to ask me a question. I thought I would restate my wishes here just in case. I would like you to use some of all the fabrics sent. The white is NOT necessarily the background fabric. You can use the fabrics anyway you want as long as there is at least one wonky star somewhere in the block. You can do one large one, multiple small ones, use a wacky layout, applique a sunbonnett sue holding one. Whatever floats your boat. Keep the scraps I have plenty of the fabric leftover. BTW I am sending out DS Quilts I have been collecting. I cant wait to have a quilt from this line.

If you need to add a small piece of fabric from your stash you may if needed to create you idea. But I would prefer you to stick with the fabrics sent. Below is an inspiration mosaic of wonky stars.

I was just thinking I haven't received my fabric from Wendy for July. It's okay if it went out a bit late or whatever, but my concern is that I moved recently and wanted to make sure it was being sent to the correct address (thought I had updated that with Linda though).

Also, Carolyn, I will finally be making it to the post office to get your block sent up to you. It's been a comedy of errors trying to get to the post office the last couple of weeks.

Hi everyone! I am so sorry that I have not posted the blocks I have received yet. First, my laptop video card is on its way out, so I was using my dad's computer. Then the internet went out, and I have been using my phone for everything internet related-- which makes reading the blog possible but posting impossible. I finally just decided to use my laptop again, but with the video card going out it makes everything black or dark in color on my screen show up with horrid reddish/pink lines through it. It's extremely hard on the eyes! *sigh*

Anyway, I have received six blocks so far, and they are all amazing!

These blocks are from (Top Row L-R) Charlene, Linda, Toni, (Bottom Row) Jadie, Erin, and Debra. I know I have shown three of them already, but I wanted to showcase all of them together! I am so excited to see how they are going to all come together, I love it so far!

I haven't had the opportunity to thank everyone individually, or to post my blocks receive so I'd like to do it now . The blocks I've received are just lovely, thank you so much everyone.
