To Bailey

Boy, Bailey, this block kept me on my toes!  I had to stop several times to focus, I was so worried I'd sew something into the wrong spot.  But how lovely it is!!!  It is on its way to Idaho now.  I can't wait to see the whole thing put together.  Thanks for letting me play with your pretty fabrics!

String Star quilt coming along nicely

I received 3 more squishy packages from Sara, Carolyn and Bailey - thanks guys!

Look how great my quilt is looking! I need to knock out a couple more blocks and put this top together. I think this is one that will become a real quilt sooner rather than later - I'm so excited about it!

July Blocks Are On The Way

Lets Bee July by bailchri
Lets Bee July, a photo by bailchri on Flickr.

I just finally got a chance to get to the Post Office so your July blocks are officially on their way. There is a paper with your fabric that explains the fabric sizes, etc but I promised I would put a link to the tutorial here for easy, clickable access! So be sure to come back here when you have your fabric!

Have fun, and keep cool!

For Melinda and Ann

I made and sent blocks for Melinda and Ann today.  Melinda, here is a fun sneak peek:

Let's Bee Together April 12
And Ann, since you already know what your block will look like, here's a fun look (I used a photo editor thing so that is why the colors may not look quite right):

Let's Bee Together May 12

You should have your blocks within a few mailing days!

From Shannon to Bailey

I thought I posted this but I did not. I found it as a draft. LOL! Well now that you have the block here is a fun sneak peek. LOL! I hope you like it.

3 more blocks arrived!

Just a quick note to let Carolyn, Shannon and Colleen know that your blocks made it safely back to me!  I love them all and hopefully will get some pictures up soon!  4 more are still out there, thank you for working so hard on them, I can't wait to get them back as well!

A Missed Block and a Few New Ones

Some how I forgot to post the block I sent to Mollie back in May.

I received two more of my blocks for my month of September.
From Melinda

From Carolyn

Also here is a sneak peek at the block I just sent to Bailey. I had so much fun making this block. But like others I had a hard time not using a pattern, LOL!

Block for Bailey

A little late, but tis the season for illness.  Im trying to catch up before I go on a trip.  im glad Bailey chose this block.  It is one I had wanted to try for a while.  I can see it takes practice to make it.  I loved the fabrics she sent me.

Mosaic Blocks

I have started receiving blocks back from my Let's Bee Together group.
As of this post I only have 4 back (out of 11) and I look forward to getting the others back soon so that I can add them to the 8 I have from when I had my local quilt group do the same blocks for me back in February.

Group A, October Block for Bailey

You may or may not yet have your fabric from me for October's blocks.
I just wanted to post the link for instructions for your block in case you've never done mosaic blocks.
At that link, under the second picture, you will find the link to download the instructions.
On the paper included with my fabric, you will find some more specific instructions for my block as well.

-Here are a couple photos for inspiration-

You can see in the pictures of the blocks I already have from my local bee group that not all blocks ended up the same size, some haven't been cut with straight edges etc.  That is fine, I do not actually want them square when they come back to me and if you can't figure out how not to make it square, you can just send it back like the one on the bottom left in the 2nd picture (see how it's not really finished, the person who did that block wasn't really fond of this style and I told them they didn't have to finish it - you can do the same if you really just can't go on!)

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions along the way!

For Shannon

I did take this picture before adding my name to the block so it really is on there!
The cool thing about this picture of Shannon's block is that it gives a sneak peek of things to come for Group A.
Your fabric is now in the mail and should arrive in the next couple of days
(in most cases - Carolyn, yours probably takes a bit longer, I'm guessing).
I'm going to schedule a post for Saturday with more details for you as I will be out of town.

Happy Thursday!

Block for Mollie

I sent this block to Mollie last week (way late - so sorry Mollie!).  She should have it by now, but I'll still just post a sneak peek and let her post the full picture if she wants to when she gets it for sure or you can see the full block now over at my blog
.
Happy Quilting-

Melinda's Sneak Peek

I got Melinda's block in the mail today so here's a little sneak peek:

Melinda - I failed to remember that you wanted a white background (until after I re-read the paper you sent) so this one may have more color than you were hoping for...I hope that's okay.

Seeking Guidance

I hope this isn't completely out of place, but I was hoping to get some guidance from all of you. Since I'm pretty new to quilting I thought I'd see what some of you think.

Dr. Seuss Quilt
(photo heidigoneaussie on flickr.com)

I want to do some blocks like these but can't figure out where to start. Maybe I'm over thinking it. I've done wonky log cabin blocks before so I don't know if it's the only one row thing that's throwing me or what. They also seem to all be pretty uniform, so do you think it's from a pattern or not?

I want to have my live quilt group (the ones I meet with here at home as opposed to this group...not that you all aren't live :) make some of these for a charity baby quilt and I don't know how to instruct them (some of us really need a lot of instruction). I could just cut all of the pieces out for them...if I even knew what to cut (if this follows a 'pattern').

Would you put sashing between these blocks, or just mush them all together?

Also....sorry this is so long....when you make a baby quilt, do you tend to do smaller blocks (like 6 or 9 inch vs 12 inch)? I could just have 3 blocks per row times 4 rows if they're bigger?

Thanks for your input...I didn't know where to turn for help (hubby and boys aren't ANY help)!

Cheers!
Bailey
