Catching up....

I want to apologize to everyone for I have fallen quite behind in my blocks!

Melissa-- I actually have TWO blocks for you, the block I made, and one that was accidentally sent to me instead of you! I had them all packaged up into an envelope, but didn't realize until today while trying to organize all that I need to catch up on (my kitchen table/sewing area is a catastrophe!) that I never took them to the post office! So, a very special apology to you, those will be whipping their way to you.

To Erin, Jadie, and Toni-- I haven't received fabric for your blocks, and it occurred to me that perhaps the email was missed a few months ago updating my address? If it was sent to the Texas address (the ex says I received a few envelopes there) then I am afraid I may possibly never get it (supposedly the stuff was forwarded to me, but that was a month ago and it's not here yet so I am not holding my breath). Please email me, ladies, so I can make it up to you!

Charlene-- I DID get your fabric, so that block will be made and sent out ASAP.

Thankyou all for not writing me off, or casting me out yet. I know I have been the worst swap partner this year :( I definitely bit off more than I can chew out of life this year.

For Shannon

I did take this picture before adding my name to the block so it really is on there!
The cool thing about this picture of Shannon's block is that it gives a sneak peek of things to come for Group A.
Your fabric is now in the mail and should arrive in the next couple of days
(in most cases - Carolyn, yours probably takes a bit longer, I'm guessing).
I'm going to schedule a post for Saturday with more details for you as I will be out of town.

Happy Thursday!

Group B August Blocks

I received my lovely block from Robyn last week - thanks, Robyn!

So unless I have misplaced one or more, I have received 7 of the 11 blocks. Unfortunately, my bookkeeping is miserable, so I'm not sure I know exactly which block was sent by whom. I think the lineup is as follows:

top row, left to right: Robyn, Charlene, Linda
middle row, left to right: Lana, Toni, Melissa
bottom row: (I can't remember! I think either Jorie or Jadie, but maybe Tamera? Help!)

Please let me know if I've botched assigning credit where credit is due (and that Stamp Out Unsewing block at the bottom), and if I've not yet received your block, no worries, I'm headed out of the country until October 8, but I would like to start assembling the quilt upon my return, if you are able to get it to me by then.

Thanks everyone; I'm making this quilt for MYSELF. Finally, one for ME!

It is still July, but already Toni has sent in her August block to me:

Thanks, Toni - this is just what I was looking for!

Group B August fabrics sent

I know I've jumped the gun a bit, but I was so excited that my month had nearly rolled around that I sent out my fabric on Thursday. I included instructions and a photo of my sample block, but recognizing that my photo on the instruction sheet is black and white, I've inserted the photo of my sample block here, too. All the blocks should be primarily the scrappy black and white fabrics, include the quilt saying, include a splash of red, and be 12.5" unfinished, but beyond that, you can do anything you want - traditional, modern, wonky, precise, pieced, appliqué, whatever. I'm very excited to see what you come up with! Please send back the scraps for me to use in finishing the quilt.

Happy sewing!

Blocks received!

Hi everyone! I am so sorry that I have not posted the blocks I have received yet. First, my laptop video card is on its way out, so I was using my dad's computer. Then the internet went out, and I have been using my phone for everything internet related-- which makes reading the blog possible but posting impossible. I finally just decided to use my laptop again, but with the video card going out it makes everything black or dark in color on my screen show up with horrid reddish/pink lines through it. It's extremely hard on the eyes! *sigh*

Anyway, I have received six blocks so far, and they are all amazing!

These blocks are from (Top Row L-R) Charlene, Linda, Toni, (Bottom Row) Jadie, Erin, and Debra. I know I have shown three of them already, but I wanted to showcase all of them together! I am so excited to see how they are going to all come together, I love it so far!

Thanks so much everyone!

First blocks received!

I checked the mail yesterday after the long weekend, and I had THREE blocks in the mailbox! What a rush of excitement! Here are the three of them together:
I love that Jadie (top right) and Toni (bottom) thought along the same lines with theirs, and Linda's (top left) is so neat next to them in contrast! I can't wait to see the rest of the blocks and see how well they all fit together! Thanks so much everyone :)

It has come to my attention that I may not have sent enough fabric for some of you to make the blocks you wanted to... If that is the case, I do not at all mind sending more fabric! This was my first bee, so I tried to base how much I sent off of how much I had received in other months and how much I used to make my 12" blocks but I guess I was still a bit short! I'm sorry!

An Overflow from March

Isn't it just the way of the world that when I would very much like to post about the lovely blocks you ladies sent to me, my computer manages to pick up a virus? Well, according to my techy it actually picked up several dozen viruses, but anyway the faithful lappy has returned with a clean bill of health and I can now post about the fabulous blocks I got last month! Seriously, y'all are so talented it's amazing.

Charlene made this gorgeous block for me and guess what? She did it while waiting for news of her grandson stationed in Japan. More emotional turmoil than you can shake a stick at and she still is able to make a beautiful block for me. Beyond amazing.

Debra's block just got here yesterday and it is so adorable! I love the lantern effect of this block!

Jorie's lovely Card Trick only had to travel from one side of town to another. I love the way all the fabrics interact in here.

Linda's fabulous block arrived just before my computer's meltdown and I was so sad not to be able to post about it instantly. I love the gold frame and the way the bits of cloud pop out from the Oriental.

I really like the way the black and blue fabrics pop out in Melissa's wonderful block.

And finally, another block from the early days without my computer, this one from Tamera. It's like there are gold arrows pointing to the roses, saying aren't they gorgeous?
Yes they are! Just like every block I've received :)

Block for Robyn

Going in the mail for you today:)
I hope you like this block! As soon as I saw the fabrics you sent, it was the first one to pop into my head!

A Happy Mailbox

Ladies, it is only the first week of the month and I am already overwhelmed by your skill and creativity.

Jadie was completely ahead of the game. Her block arrived on Monday when it wasn't even my month yet. Wow!
Toni's block arrived today and is overwhelmingly gorgeous. This one block has me wanting to make an entire quilt out of kimono blocks.

Erin's package also arrived today with not just one but two beautiful blocks! These are both just fantastic!

I absolutely love what you ladies are doing with my fabrics.

My First LBT Block!

Hello all! Jorie here, from Beautiful Chaos. I finished Linda's block today! There were a few hiccups (let's just say I calculated all my measurements right, and then cut them wrong), but I resolved them all. While the finished block isn't exactly how I planned, I still think it's great. Linda, I hope you love it too!

Here is a little sneak peek:

I hope to have it in the mail by Friday at the latest! It is SLIGHTLY larger than 12.5", but I don't have a square ruler or a cutting mat large enough to hold it all (my mat is only 12x18--so I would have to move the block and reposition it-- and I am in the process of moving, so I'm holding off on buying a larger one just yet), so I am sending it without squaring/trimming it up. I hope you don't mind, but I am worried I will mess it up if I try!

Group B January Block

I was surprised to receive Linda's fabrics on Tuesday, but sat right down and whipped up a scrappy block just for her!  Used all the fabrics and had to add a little more white on white, but happy with the results.  I'm going to tease her with a sampling of the block....

Will be in the mail on Monday!

Happy New Year everyone!!

Group B Complete

Our Group B just accepted its final member!  Each month has been assigned.  I will send out the needed snail mail information approximately one month ahead of your assigned month.  January is mine and I hope to send out the fabric and block instructions by the 20th.
We only need one more member in Group A.  I'm hoping to hear back today from someone who expressed interest yesterday.  If I don't, is there anyone from Group B that would like to also be in group A?  The only month left to fill is December.
We are on our way!!
