Block From Kate

Kate asked me to post this picture of this beautiful block she made for me.  I haven't seen it yet but can't wait.  She said she will put it in the mail tomorrow.  This will make the final block!  Now I get to create something beautiful with all of the blocks I have received.

Interested?

We may be looking for a new member.  One of the original members in Group B appears to have become a non-participant :(   Her month to be hostess is April.  So if you know anybody that would like to hit the ground running, please send them my way.  Or, if anybody from Group A would like to belong to both groups just drop me an email.  Also, Robyn said that she has plenty of her fabric to include the new member for the month of March.

Thanks, Linda G - Administrator

February Is A Short Month

Don't forget there are only 28 days this month.  That means your blocks are to be in the mail no later than Monday!

Thanks, Linda G.

Robyn's Block for Tamera

I finally made it to the post office today so I could send off this block to Tamera. It's been waiting around for about a week while I got other packages ready to send off as well. Speaking of which, here's a sneak peek at March for Group B. These should be hitting your mailboxes in less than a week!

A Preview for Ann

So Ann sent block instructions and fabric with a single request that the 'teardrop' fabric be placed in a specific location.  So here's a preview of how I configured the rest of the block.

Hey Tamera! This block is in the mail, making its way to you soon! I hope you like it!

The colors in the pic are a bit off, but since it's your fabric I am sure you can imagine how it really looks :)

Looking For Lost Member

Hi All!

I'm looking for a lost member from Group B.  I have not had any communication from Kate Cruchley for quite awhile.  If any of you know her could you let me know if she is okay?  I get concerned when I don't hear from one of our family members.  If you happen to know her personally, please let her know that she is missed and that I would love to hear from her.

UPDATE:  I have heard from Kate.  She is fine but has had some family issues.  She is still a part of our family :)

Thanks!

From Marta to Ann

I just finished her block. I really like her choice of fabrics.
It was a pretty easy and stress free block. Not much to worry about since she chose her block and placement of her main fabric.

I hope she likes it :)

For Tamera

What fun to play around with your fabric, Tamera! And pink and brown is one of my favorite color combos, too.

My first instinct was to make one of those scrappy sashing blocks a mini shoofly block, but I goofed and the points got cut off - that's OK for a quilt that I'm keeping, but I didn't feel right sending a block off to you that way.

So I substituted that mini shoofly with a mini 9-patch - I hope it'll do! It'll be winging its way back to you in tomorrow's mail.

From Melissa to Tamera

Guess I should have cut those threads for the picture!! Thanks so much to Tamera for including the great instructions! Us new piecers appreciate it!

Block for Tamera

Here is Tamera's block.  I had fun making the Shoo Fly block.  Adding the sashing to the two sides certainly gives the block a different look.  The brown and pink combination is very pretty and I like working with the fabric that Tamera sent.  I hope she likes how it turned out.

Block for Ann

I finally finished the block for Ann.  I originally had worked on this last week and had made two major cutting errors in the fabric I was sent.  I was lucky enough to find the exact fabric online and completed the block today.  Lesson learned - do not cut out fabric when you are extremely tired!!

From Staci to Ann

Sent this out Saturday.  Ann, thanks for letting me play with your fabric!

Block Made and In the Mail Today

Here it is :
Let's Bee Together Block
I've never made this block before - was a new experience! :D  Hope you love all your blocks - can't wait to see everyone's quilts!!!!

From Shannon to Ann

I had a great turn around with this one. I received her fabric and had it made and in the mail in two days. I LOVED working with this fabric. Wow it is so cool. Renegade Quilter sent out the fabric the end off January and now that she posted it on her blog I can post about it now. Thank you Ann it was a lot of fun to make that block.

Seeking Guidance

I hope this isn't completely out of place, but I was hoping to get some guidance from all of you. Since I'm pretty new to quilting I thought I'd see what some of you think.

Dr. Seuss Quilt
(photo heidigoneaussie on flickr.com)

I want to do some blocks like these but can't figure out where to start. Maybe I'm over thinking it. I've done wonky log cabin blocks before so I don't know if it's the only one row thing that's throwing me or what. They also seem to all be pretty uniform, so do you think it's from a pattern or not?

I want to have my live quilt group (the ones I meet with here at home as opposed to this group...not that you all aren't live :) make some of these for a charity baby quilt and I don't know how to instruct them (some of us really need a lot of instruction). I could just cut all of the pieces out for them...if I even knew what to cut (if this follows a 'pattern').

Would you put sashing between these blocks, or just mush them all together?

Also....sorry this is so long....when you make a baby quilt, do you tend to do smaller blocks (like 6 or 9 inch vs 12 inch)? I could just have 3 blocks per row times 4 rows if they're bigger?

Thanks for your input...I didn't know where to turn for help (hubby and boys aren't ANY help)!

Cheers!
Bailey

Second To Last Block

I received this beautiful block in today's mail from Colleen.  It is an original design by her called Flor Linda.  I love the way it sets off the individual fabrics.  Thank you, Colleen!!
